βOne unique asset of a smart leader is the ability to synthesize complex information and distill it to its fundamental elements. What makes that smart leader a wise one is the further ability to convey those fundamentals to varying groups of people, and to generate purposeful discussion and ultimately, consensus. Brian Repass is both that smart and wise leader.β

Core Competancy: Leading Change
"Leading Change is the ability to establish an organizational vision and to implement it in a continuously changing environment."

Accomplishments
One of the most important tasks of an executive is guiding the development of an organizational vision and then developing the strategic plans to make that vision a reality. From educational opportunities like Organizational Theory class, the Natural Resource Leadership Institute Fellowship and ROMA training, to participatory experiences through involvement with community issues, non-profit board memberships, and employment at Community Action Opportunities, I have learned and used many visioning and strategic planning tools. I have participated in the following recent strategic planning initiatives:
- Community Action Opportunities 2004 & 2010
- Buncombe County Smart Start 2010
- Channels for Child Care Advancement 2009
- Madison County Smart Start 2007
Developed and presented βAn introduction to Head Startβ and participated in a panel discussion on child care options at the 2005 Children First conference.
Identified the opportunity and initiated discussions that led to a Office of Head Start, Region IV T&TA grant of $100,000 for the CAO North Carolina Family Development Credential Training Program to provide state-wide training for Head Start staff. |
