“I always appreciated your tremendous ability to face the really complex, important issues and break them into pieces that were understandable and actionable. No request for data or trend information was ever too big or too small. Thank you for all the help you have given me so many times.”

Fran Thigpen, Director Buncombe County Child Care Services & Buncombe County Parks and
Recreation Services

Core Competency: Results Driven
Results Driven is the ability to make decisions that produce high-quality results by applying technical knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks.”

Accomplishments
Created program information reports for Policy Council and the CAO Board. Presented these reports and other Departmental updates to both bodies.
Head Start Board Dashboard Report

Developed a tracking system for child daily attendance and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) using Microsoft Excel. This system combined three different forms into one and has improved accuracy and efficiency in completing daily, weekly, and monthly reports. The data is reported to CACFP, the NC Pre-Kindergarten program and is used to determine Head Start average daily attendance. This process tracks over 185,000 breakfasts, snacks and lunches served to children each year and can identify if a child was present, absent or ill and each meal they were served on any given day.
Attendance & CACFP System

Worked with Family Service and Health staff to reduce the amount of filing in child files by over 10,000 sheets annually. As a result of the time savings, Data Entry staff have been able to complete initial creation of child files and the filing of all initial paperwork by September 30 instead of December 31. As a result, information was able to be filed and found in a more effective and efficient manner by all staff.

Supervised data entry staff and worked closely with education, health and family service program areas to use technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness of Department record-keeping and reporting.
